ALMOND FLOWERS IN SANTA AGNES


They came on delay this year, but have arrived. I do not know if it's true or not but I heard from some farmers of Santa Agnès de Corona, that the almond trees in very cold weather purposely can delay flowering, and do not know if this is so, but the truth is I've never seen a long-delayed flowering as this year.

In fact I believed that this year would not see the white explosion that often create these trees during flowering, and although we could saw some isolated flowers, this year noway is at all as used to do so.

The big cold waves (in fact two), are over, and the white colour that the snow brought, was replaced in days with the white colour of the almond flowers, giving a chance to enjoy those Ibiza fields full of them.

The white colour of the flower, combined with the white cottages, green meadows and the deep blue sky. In this intense winter flowering, the spring starts showing the face, in few days begins. we barely twenty days begins.

WHITE ALMOND TREES IN SANTA AGNÈS VALLEY

Undoubtedly the most impressive natural winter spectacle is the flowering of the almond-trees of the island of Ibiza. This year maybe has not the showiness of other years, rains and overcoat winds have been part of the reasons, but anyway is enjoyable to walk around them again. In Ibiza we have no snow at all, but this white landscape remains us a bit the white element.

Besides the flower, we still have it´s nice smell, very estimated in the industry of the perfumes. The flower color is white or pink depending on the type of almond. Again the fields of the north of the island are the most spectacular, and there many persons peregrinate every day to walk between these trees that give a romantic touch to our fields. Maybe the favorite and already most famous site for this, is the rural little village of santa Agnès de Corona.

The almond trees in the whole Ibiza but specially in this little village, bring to us an anticipated spring with a great performance showing the white and some rose flowers colours.

The rose colour on this flowers are not abundants and is due another type of almonds. Those are very bitter in their savour and they have use only in perfumes and other little kind of things. But of course this rose colour also makes contrasts with the other white almond trees and the green of the rest of the nature.

From some valleys as this one (up) of Buscastell in the neighborhood of Santa Agnes, we can see the tallest mountain of Ibiza of 475 meters high (1,567 feet). Now this image is adorning by some brunches with the white almond trees flowers.

The ships are not even surprised already of this white radiant colour that the nature gives them for some weeks. So they continue eating grass.
