BURNED FOREST IN BENIRRAS

FOREST FIRE IN THE NORTH OF IBIZA

The lush green forest that contrasted with the blue Mediterranean on the northern coast of Ibiza has become black, completely burnt and nearly 400 hectares of ecologically valuable forest burned. The area is called by locals "Es Amunts", a great green area full of pines and junipers.

Homes miraculously saved from the burned down, now those white walls are contrasting with the blackness of the destruction of this forest that turned black and will need up to 30 years to return to what it was.

One feels sad to see the desolate place that few days ago was a former lush and green forest, many animals have also perished in the flames. The causes I suppose are many, the important thing is that it could have been avoided.

Many cars completely burnt, were removed by trucks, I was struck by the sight of one of its truck drivers who came out smoking a cigarette. Sometimes for as little, it can be done a great destruction. People have to be care in these places...
